We had a vision in 1987 to create a special place where women could get away and relax, to heal their minds, spirits and their hearts in the company of women. A place women from all over the world could come and enjoy all that the Big Island has to offer. With a comfortable, friendly, peaceful retreat to return to at the end of the day.
Our vision became a reality when we created The Butterfly Inn. Nestled in the quiet hills of Kurtistown, just minutes away from the Hilo coastline, women now have the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of Hawai´i, in a safe, supportive environment. Both of us have lived in Hawai´i for over 30 years and love meeting and sharing our home and stories with other women. Having the Inn and work exchange is one of the ways we bring the rest of the world to us.
	We are 60ish now and interested in health and healing, and being self-sufficient. Patty is into homeopathy. Kay worked in a shelter for battered women and children for many years and now has a small anthurium flower business.
Our accommodations are on an acre of land, surrounded by lush green and tropical vegetation. In order to keep our basic rates the same, we have made a few changes in our policies... We are now a Bed and Kitchen. We no longer provide food for your breakfast. However, there is a fully equipped kitchen for your use where you can cook any or all of your meals. There is now a 3 night minimum. Room Rates: Single $55 Double $65 No Weekly Rate If women can't do the 3 night minimum and still want to stay, the rates for either 1 or 2 women are: One night $85.00. Two nights $75.00 per night. Prices include use of the Jacuzzi hot tub and fresh picked fruit and herbs from our yard when available. Room Rates are subject to a 11.5% tax. A deposit of 50% of the cost of your stay, payable by personal, traveller's, cashier's check, or money order is required when making your reservation. We accept cash, personal, traveller's or cashier's checks and money orders as payment for the balance of your stay once you arrive. Cancellation & Refund Policy Because we are a small, women's Inn, we do not have the flexibility or resources that a larger hotel has. Therefore our refund policy on deposits is as follows: Once you have made a reservation, if you cancel 31 days or more before your reserved arrival date, 50% of your deposit will be returned. There will be NO DEPOSIT REFUND if you cancel 30 days or less prior to arrival. Children are not permitted. Young women 12 years and older are welcome. Check in time is after 2:00 PM. Check out time is 11:00 AM.
